The judgments we have about getting our needs met can be loaded with stories. Those stories impact how you spend your money, how you nourish your body, how you nurture your mind and encourage your spirit.
Do you allow yourself to feel cared for in all areas of your life? Each month we announce a theme for you to muse on with us in community.
This month is about Self Care. Right after announcing the theme of Self Care, a queer brother immediately wrote to me saying, "this sounds selfish" The judgments we have about getting our needs met can be loaded with stories. Those stories impact how you spend your money, how you nourish your body, how you nurture your mind and encourage your spirit.
The needs of love, security and self esteem are at the core of everyone's well-being. Do you allows yourself to be/feel cared for in all areas of your life?
Most of us are strong in some areas of self care and weak in others. Who are the people who support you in your self care? Who helps you to shine brightly by supporting you in feeling good about your body, mind, spirit and service?
I remember a man who came to see me for a massage. He was overwhelmed with grief because his father, who he dearly loved had recently died. In the massage he cried, was erotically awakened and cried more. I held him and did energywork to close the session. Images came to my mind of a place he and his father played together as kids. The sense his father's presence had somehow come through powerfully during this experience. When he left it was as if he had dropped pounds of grief and responsibility he had been carrying. The following session the man shared he had gotten clear how he hated his job and he quit to start a new business. Dropping his grief allowed him to rediscover his passion.
It all started with self care.
Caring for yourself and inviting others to support you in your self care can change how you show up in the world.
If in San Francisco Oct 20th join us for our Sacred Touch Ritual followed by our Potluck "Meet the Queer Self Care Practitioners"
Community is great way to support your self care. If you are not able to be with us, know we still would like to remember you. Share your name and a desire you wish to be supported in your self care. We will write your name and desire on our paper mache construct "The Friend" to hold your intention. (example Joe H. I desire more support in my self care around food)
